The Grid
Simon Easton
the
concept is to provide key technologies and infrastructure to create a massive UK
computing and data grid. Computing grids allow geographically distributed
organisations to share applications, data and computing resources. A new model
of computing, Grids are clusters of servers joined together over the Internet,
using protocols provided by the Globus open source community and other open
technologies, including Linux. Grid protocols are designed to allow companies to
work more closely and more efficiently with colleagues, partners and suppliers
through more efficient management. |
