Building an On Demand Business. What does IBM mean by this? What is on demand and what is not? This presentation will cover how changes in the Market place are resulting in Companies transforming their business models to become more on demand. It will explain how IBM is helping its clients make this transformation and will provide insight on how IBM is transforming its own business to become an on demand business.

Catharine Boardman joined IBM in 1986 and has had a variety of customer facing roles. She spent 5 years in Management Consulting, focusing on Business Transformation of Insurance Companies and 4 years in Client Management, with specific responsibility for the relationship with Royal and SunAlliance. For the last two years she has enjoyed a privileged position of working for the UK Chief Executive in a Special Projects role and following this was appointed the Executive responsible for On Demand, North Region.

11:30      The Component Business Model - Overview

The ability of a business to respond in an On Demand manner depends on the use of Information Technology.  The IT infrastructure is therefore a key enabler of an On Demand business.  This presentation will describe the characteristics needed from the IT infrastructure, and how we see organisations getting there over the next few years.  It will then focus on technologies available today, and how their implementation now will enable organisations to move towards becoming On Demand businesses.
Brian Macfaden works as a System Architect in IBM UK Systems and Technology Group, advising customers on optimising their server and storage infrastructure. He is a technical specialist across all of IBM's servers and storage products.  Over the three years he has been doing this role his primary activities have been analysing the cost of running current server infrastructures and advising customers on ways to reduce the costs, server consolidation studies, and advising customers on platform selection. Brian regularly presents to customers on IBM's latest server and storage technologies, including autonomic computing and On Demand.

Helen Beal is the Software Sales  Guru for IBM Premier Partner, REAL Solutions, has nine years' experience of IBM Software technologies and is an IBM Certified On Demand Solution Adviser.

13:45      The Component Business Model - Overview

The presentation will cover an introduction to Business Components and their usage  in Business & Technology Strategy and Architecture. It will include a brief outline of the value of  component ideas in today's markets, a review of the concepts of Business Components, and then an illustration of how and where they can be used,  with reference to specific industry examples  

Alan Freeland has considerable IBM customer experience and currently manages a team of systems architects and infrastructure consultants in IBM's Global Services division.   Alan has broad and deep sales and technical experience including product introductions, solutions assurance and people development.  Alan has Chaired the IBM IT Specialists Board for 5 years.

14:30      A Practical View on eBusiness on Demand                  
Gordon McKenzie, Business Development Director, Syan

The session is intended to give a practical view of the emergent customer requirements in the "on-demand" world, centred on evidence from Syan's customer base and elsewhere, and to project where this will lead the market over the next 3 years.

Gordon has spent over 20 years in IT services supplier companies, 15 of which in the outsourcing industry
