Get PHP on i - Webcast
Speaker: Bruce Wassell, IBM
3 December 2008 @ 1:00 pm
In the next webcast from COMMON UK, we bring you
the opportunity to get up and running with PHP on i and access open-source
applications, to get the best out of this new environment for the i Series.
IBM's Bruce Wassell will provide a brief introduction to PHP and MySQL and
provide some detail on distributions for IBM i available from the Zend and MySQL
corporations respectively together with a review of the latest announcements
pertinent to i. He will then give a overview on how to install and configure
the two products, together with a brief introduction to programming for this
environment with reference to a simple example. The webcast will conclude with a
survey of Open Source applications available that may be run on IBM i systems.
For i5/OS V6R1, all programs created for previous
releases that use the i5/OS Machine Interface (MI) must be converted. IBM will
explain the benefits of program conversion, and how you can use a free tool on
V5R4 or V5R3 to estimate conversion times and check whether you have any
programs that cannot simply be converted.
