Exploiting IBM i Features for Better Application Security

Better authentication and access control is on everyone's mind these days. On many systems, public authorities are too high. Configuration problems lead to an application environment that allows too many users to access data they are not supposed to access and perform data manipulation without leaving a trace behind. This session will teach you the various functions and services that are included in IBM i that allow you to implement in applications proper protection of your business critical data and assets.

Thomas Barlen is an IBM Certified Consulting IT Specialist in IBM Germany for i5 and i Series systems in IBM eServer i Series Technical Sales. Before joining this team in September 2002, he was assigned to the IBM International Technical Support Organization (ITSO) in Rochester, MN. He writes extensively and teaches IBM classes worldwide on all areas of i Series communications, e-business, single signon, and  security. Prior to his start in the ITSO in 1999, he worked in AS/ 400 software support and as a Systems Engineer in IBM Germany. He has over 16 years of experience in AS/ 400 networking and system management, as well as local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) network design and implementation.
